A traffic collision involving two vehicles occurred on the Rowland Boulevard onramp to southbound Highway 101 in Novato, California, on May 18, 2025, at approximately 2:01 PM. The incident involved a white Nissan SUV and a gray Toyota Camry, both of which ended up on the right-hand side of the road. Fortunately, both drivers were able to exchange their driver’s licenses and insurance information, and neither required emergency medical services. The driver of one of the vehicles reported hitting their head and shoulder but declined medical assistance at the scene. Despite the impact, both vehicles were deemed drivable, allowing the drivers to safely move them off the main roadway, minimizing further traffic disruption. Authorities remind drivers to exercise caution and remain vigilant, especially when navigating onramps and merging onto highways. A total of 42 people infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes were reported from 21 states – Alabama, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, North Carolina, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and West Virginia.  Illnesses started on dates ranging from August 17, 2018, to March 13, 2025. Of 42 people with information available, 41 were hospitalized. A total of 14 deaths were reported from 9 states: California, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New York, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington. Most people in this outbreak reported living in long-term care facilities or were hospitalized prior to becoming sick. The true number of sick people in this outbreak was likely higher than the number reported, and the outbreak may not have been limited to the states with known illnesses. As of May 9, 2025, a total of 10 people infected with the outbreak strain of Listeria have been reported from two states. Sick people’s samples were collected on dates ranging from December 3, 2023, to September 9, 2024. Of 10 people with information available, all 10 have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported. The true number of sick people in this outbreak is likely higher than the number reported, and this outbreak may not have been limited to the states with known illnesses. This is because some people recover without medical care and are not tested for Listeria. Currently, there have been no illnesses identified in 2025. However, a recent environmental isolate was collected at Fresh & Ready Foods LLC and illnesses may not yet be reported. CDC investigated this outbreak in 2024. Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan pleaded not guilty Thursday in federal court to charges alleging she interfered with federal immigration enforcement by assisting a noncitizen avoiding arrest by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Judge Dugan is facing two federal charges, the first being concealing an individual to prevent arrest, and the second obstruction of justice. The charges stem from an April 18 incident in which she allegedly helped a man identified as Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, who is reportedly in the US without legal status, exit her courtroom through a back door to evade ICE agents waiting in the courthouse. The arraignment took place in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, where Magistrate Judge Stephen Dries scheduled a trial to begin on July 21.
